The Buffalo Police Mutual Aid and Benefit Association was organized in 1891 by members of the Buffalo Police Department solely for the purpose of providing financial aid and benefit to the families of deceased members.

The Association receives no financial assistance from taxes or public funds. It depends upon dues and assessments from its members for maintenance and, principally, from the proceeds of the Annual Drill and Ball.

The Buffalo Police Mutual Aid and Benefit Association was ended in 1960's
